Amounts of foods recommended in above diet plan, may not provide enough vitamin D and vitamin B-
12 for elderly persons but by regularly consuming fortified and/or enriched foods, older adults can
increase their intakes of these micronutrients. In many instances, older adults can benefit from taking a
daily multiple vitamin/mineral supplement.
