For more than 30 years, Minnesota FoodShare’s March Campaign has provided more than half the food distributed by 300 food shelves throughout the state. This annual grassroots food and fund drive is the only statewide effort where every dollar donated goes directly to food shelves to purchase food for the hungry but it’s benefit doesn’t stop there.

Every donation whether it be cash or food will be matched (a pound of food equals 1 dollar) by a grant from The Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches for those food shelves participating in this campaign.

This is an amazing and crucial opportunity for Vineyard Community Services and its Fruit of the Vine Food Shelf each year. Last year we set a goal of $85,000 and we achieved it. This year we are setting a goal of $100,000!

Would you consider donating to Fruit of the Vine Food Shelf in the month of March? All donations are tax-deductible and will be part of the match grant.

A money donation is really helpful because as a food shelf we are able to purchase food through Second Harvest, our food bank, which gives us more purchasing power. For every dollar you donate we can acquire (1) about $16 worth of food. So your donation of $10 can obtain $160 worth of groceries, your donation of $100 can procure $1,600 and your donation of $1,000 we can acquire $16,000 of groceries. Combine that with the match grant and you can see this is a great time to donate!
